History of the pallets CP

Created in the United States at the beginning of the Forties, the pallet, composed out of wooden elements, facilitates handling, the storage and the carriage of goods. It is moved by using lifting trucks called trans-pallet.

In an original manner out of wood, one finds now on the market of the packing of the handling pallets, some made out of plastic or recycled matters, either in elements, or moulded. They are generally lighter than the wood slats, but specially imputrescibles and stackable for the moulded pallets.

CP pallets

Created at the beginning of the Nineties by the VCI (Verband der Chemischer Industry), the CP type pallets are dedicated to the chemical industry. Since, their management was entrusted to the APME (Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe) which organizes their diffusion and the collection on a European scale.

The standard defines nine models of pallets, of CP1 with CP9, being able to carry out several rotations. If needed, the CP pallets can undergo one or more repairs. At the end of lifetime and like any support of handling, they are developed or eliminated.

The CP pallets answer to a precise schedule of conditions as regards wood quality, fixing of the elements, marking and dimensional tolerance.

Various markings of the CP pallets allow their identification:

  • the type of pallet, CP1 with CP9
  • the code of the manufacturer and/or the reconditionnor
  • the date of manufacture
  • the possible date of reconditioning
